The checkm8 exploit, which was initially identified in 2019, is the foundation of the palera1n jailbreak for iOS 16 and 15 devices. Since it was discovered in the bootrom of Apple CPUs ranging from the A5 to the A11, this exploit is regarded as “unpatchable.” On the more recent A-series processors, the company patched the attack, but it was unable to fully repair it on earlier devices.
