Vivo introduced its new Origin OS 3, which runs on Android 13, at the annual developers’ conference after it was announced on November 8. According to rumours, vivo concentrates on improving OriginOS 3 to achieve unmatched silky lightness and long-lasting smoothness. Vivo has introduced an AI framework to assure the smoothness of the user experience in all respects. This framework includes the advancement of fundamental capabilities, resource scheduling optimization, and an upgrade of upper visual and control perception.
The three key technological areas of compute, storage, and display are also a focus of vivo in terms of the underlying fundamental capabilities. The OriginOS core received parallel numeration support from vivo last year. This year, the new system features a number of storage-related technologies, including application grouping, data compression, memory aggregation, and others. The upgraded 3.0 version of this component increases the memory by 8GB. According to vivo’s testing, a mobile phone with 12G of memory can support a maximum of 34 background applications.
In addition, vivo has introduced three new features this year on the basis of the industry’s first full-scenario lasting smoothness launched last year. This is intended to address the frequent issue that mobile phones will become slower and slower after prolonged usage. These functions include file system defragmentation, anti-aging model upgrading, and mobile phone health. Users can check statistics on storage and battery health with the mobile phone health function. The Telecom Terminal Industry Association’s anti-aging standard was upgraded at the same time, with vivo once again taking the lead and raising the five-star level of “anti-aging” effect to 48 months.
The foreground and background fair scheduling algorithm in the Linux kernel has been rewritten by vivo into an unfair scheduling algorithm in the dimension of resource scheduling optimization in middle layer. This tilts the computing power and other system resources to the foreground, ensuring the smooth operation of the foreground, while the background process will not be affected. When OriginOS 3 shuts down a whitelisted app owing to inadequate memory, it will save the app’s previous state so that nothing is lost when the user comes back, which is especially useful when watching videos or reading the news.
Vivo has also made strides in the areas of higher vision and manipulation perception. In 2020, OriginOS released Visual Fluency 1.0, which made adjustments in the UI design process to address the annoyance brought on by the stark visual difference between system animation frames. In order to make up for the jerky and incoherent animation process this year and enable the mobile phone to display 60 frames, Visually Smooth 2.0 will reproduce the motion blur effect using software methods. Screen fluency is 18.7% better on the application’s starting and shutdown interface after optimization.
On November 9, the new OriginOS 3 system will be made available for internal testing. In late November 2022, batches of the public beta version will be made accessible.
